Be Kind
to Yourself And Each Other
Ubuntu, A Creative Arts Therapy PLLC, based in NYC, is an arts-based, outpatient, mental health organization. We believe the journeys to healing and self-mastery are continuous and every path to it is unique, so we utilize a variety of art mediums in psychotherapeutic group and individual treatment to act as both mirror and guide to participants.

Here's What We've Been Talking About
No Code-Switching Necessary
We'd like to start this post with a video we love: click here. One of our goals is to support people in maintaining our individual identities while appreciating each other's differences. We strive to be competent about the nuances of different identities and we strive to be accessible to all people seeking support for their emotional, psychological, or behavorial wellness. We understand that this kind of access to mental health services has been pretty non-existent in communities of color, where mental health has been rumored to mean that "something is wrong" with a person. One of our goals is to end this stigma and encourage people to understand that we are all struggling with something and striving to be better every day. This struggle and strive is cross-cultural, intersectional, and disregards age or classification. When we keep this in mind and fill a room with every kind of person with the same goal (to better themselves), we believe that we begin to eliminate those biases and assumptions that we have toward ourselves and each other.
Did Someone Say 'Self-Mastery'?
We think there are many paths to self-mastery the same way 2+2 & 3+1 & 6-2 ALL EQUAL 4. We agree that one of the most important things on the road to mastering self is to be exactly who you are and to 'act' in accordance or alignment with the things you want. While we use art as our medium or guide in this concept, we think Sifu Lak Loi speaks vividly on the foundational steps toward self-mastery: click here!
